Friday Fiesta 191110

Tuesday, 23 November 2010
After a blank Friday last week, Kollywood recuperates with a few releases this Friday. As things reveal, the November and December months are going to be interesting with value films which have been pushed by force or postponed by choice hitting the theatres in regular succession.

As for this Friday two serious stories – ‘Magizhchi’ and ‘Mandhira Punnahai’ – along with a mass masala ‘Nagaram’ are releasing. On the Hollywood dubbed frontier the Tamil dubbed ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ as ‘Haary Pottarum Uyir Rahasiyamum’ is releasing.

‘Magizhchi’ is the film adaptation of the classic Tamil novel ‘Thalaimuraigal’ written by distinguished author Neela Padmanabhan. It is a kind of a period film in which the story beings in the 13th century and travels to 1985 and then to present day. This film is directed by Gowthaman attained fame with his well done television series on Veerappan and Auto Shankar. Apart from direction, he is also debuting as the hero. Director Seeman and Prakash Raj have played vital roles. Anjali and Karthika are the two heroines. Vidyasagar’s music is also a notable factor.

Magizhichi’ has generated interest with the Neela Padmanaban story for some and the presence of fiery Seeman for others. Director Gauthaman says the film will satisfy all classes.

‘Mandhira Punnahai’ is another film which has its director debuting as the hero as well. Karu Palaniappan who captured our hearts with sensitive films like Parthiban Kanavu and Pirivom Sandhippom is out with another story of human emotions.

The story of ‘Mandhira Punnahai’ is about a person who is unaffected by any thing, not even love. The hero in the film is an architect who leads a carefree life without any concern for others and the heroine is a modern girl with ethical values tries to change his notions. When their different ideas on love and life try to converge it diverges from the core point. It is about the real feeling of the term love. There is no disconnecting villain in this film. All wars are fought with emotions and sentiments.

Karu. Palaniappan is known for his deft handling of human relationships in his films and this film too is eagerly awaited. Meenakshi is the heroine. Santhanam is also a mainstay in the film as the friend of Karu. Director Nakulan Ponnuswamy and Deala No Deal fame Rishi are some interesting new faces to watch out in ‘Mandhira Punnahai’. And not to say the least, Vidyasagar has again rocked with his lucky Karu.

Sundar C directed ‘Nagaram’ is a mass masala with all spices intact. Sundar C has returned to direction after a gap of four years. ‘Nagaram’ story revolves around Chennai city and a middle class boy 'Gate’ Selvam, played by Sundar, whose life changes due to the circumstances he’s involved in. And for comedy the historic pair can be seen again. Vadivelu plays 'Style Pandi' and creates riot as he did as ‘Naai’ Sekar in Thalainagaram.
Anuya of ‘Siva Manasula Sakthi’ is the heroine and she lip-locks Sundar C in a scene. Veteran character actor G Srinivasan resurfaces as a villain in this film. Thought to be a sequel to his earlier ‘Thalainagaram’, Sundar C denies it.

‘Harry Pottarum Uyir Rahasiyamum’ is dubbed from ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’. This is the seventh and final installment of the Harry Potter series. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is a two-part epic fantasy film directed by David Yates.

The one releasing this Friday is the Part-1 and the Part-2 will release in July next year. While the first part is a normal film the second part will also come in 3-D version.

In ‘Harry Pottarum Uyir Rahasiyamum’, Harry is on a quest to collect and destroy all of the Horcruxes which are the secret to the immortality of Lord Voldemort. It stars Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, alongside Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as Harry's best friends.

Next Friday is also going to be impressive with some cute films gearing up.
