Anushka To Pair With Vikram in Deiva Magan

[Thursday, December 02, 2010]‘It might be a bit difficult to believe but the tall and slimy-built Anushka has starred in just three ‘direct’ Tamil films. After debuting opposite Madhavan as heroine in the film ‘Rendu’ directed by Sundar C more than five years ago, Anushka moved to Tollywood where she was besieged with film offers.

It was ‘Arundhati’, released early last year in many languages including Telegu and Tamil with the same title, which won her all-round appreciation as her role had for her lot of scope to perform. Thanks to the popularity due to the mega-success of ‘Arundhati’, Anushka did ‘Vettaikaran’ opposite Vijay (which proved to be a dud at the box-office) and the successful ‘Singam’ opposite Suriya.

After a long break, she is now starring in ‘Vaanam’ opposite Simbu. The film also stars Bharath and Vega and is the remake of the Telugu hit ‘Vedam’, which released early this year and had starred Anushka in the lead role. Anushka, though, would be playing the secondary role in the Tamil version and would also feature in a hot ‘item number’ with Simbu in the film.

Reports say that Anushka has agreed to star in ‘Deiva Magan’, which would be director Vijay’s next film following his super-success in his latest Aarya-Emy Jackson starrer in ‘Madarasapattinam’. The film would pit Anushka opposite the talented Vikram, who likes experimenting with various roles in all his films.

Vijay’s first choice was Bollywood’s Vidya Balan who is said to be busy with her previously committed projects and now he has zeroed in on Anushka, who is said to be mighty excited about the script, which has a lot of scope for the heroine’s character. Anushka is also said to be very happy and was looking forward to sharing the screen-space with the talented Vikram, the ‘height’ factor notwithstanding.
